Summary of the will of JANE FERRIS of Milton Manor, widow (proved 21st January 1898)
Executor: nephew GEORGE FERRIS of Milton Manor, Land Surveyor
My wearing apparel and any trinkets or jewellery to my stepdaughter ANNE FERRIS, also all silver articles marked WMF.
To my brothers TOM PONTIN, JAMES PONTIN and WILLIAM HENRY PONTIN £50 each.
To the four children of my late stepson WILLIAM EDWARD STILES FERRIS £25 each.
To my stepson JOHN FERRIS £50.
To my stepdaughter SARAH STILES TAYLER £50.
To my stepdaughter MARY STILES BROWN the large gold chain which was her mother's, also the bronze clock and ornaments from the Dining Room, and the gold tea service which was her mother's.
To my nephew JONATHAN PUCKRIDGE or his wife I leave my hall clock.
To my nephew GEORGE FERRIS £100 and my household furniture, goods, plate, linen and china, glass and other of my effects in and about my dwelling house at Milton except as herein otherwise disposed of.
To my cousin BESSIE PONTIN £100.
To my nephews JAMES and HARRY GUNNING £50 each.
To my friend Mrs JULIA S. GALE of Sunnylands £20
To my two men servants W. HISCOCK and JOHN BENGER £10 each.
To GEORGE FERRIS upon trust the sum of £500 to pay the interest thereof during her life to my stepdaughter ANNE FERRIS, and at her death this sum shall form a part of my residuary estate.
To my nephew GEORGE FERRIS upon trust the sum of £500 to pay the interest thereof during her life to my Aunt COWDLE, and at her death this sum shall form a part of my residuary estate.
Residue: together with the two above-mentioned sums left upon trust, to my relative ALFRED CAWDLE of 14 Bath Road, Bedford Park, London.
To my young nephew J.H. FERRIS now of Conock, Devizes, my silver teapot marked WF.
